The Arkansas City Police Department arrested a homeless Arkansas City man Wednesday on drug charges after he attempted to conceal evidence, according to a news release from the ACPD Tuesday.

Justin Don Ledbetter, 41, was arrested on suspicion of one felony count of burglary of a motor vehicle and two felony counts of interference with the judicial process. He also was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as two misdemeanor counts each of criminal trespass and theft of property or services totaling less than $1,000 in value.

Ledbetter was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield on a $12,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers were dispatched at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of East Monroe Avenue and South A Street for a report of a man who had been seen walking out of garages, carrying a backpack.

They made contact with Ledbetter, who was transported to South Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment after ingesting an unknown drug substance in an alleged effort to conceal evidence.

He later was medically cleared, released from SCKMC and transported to the county jail.

The ACPD also released more information about a separate arrest made on Jan. 16 in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries.

Trevor Scott Brown, 23, was arrested on suspicion of four felony counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, as well as one felony count each of possession of methamphetamine and no drug tax stamp.

He also was arrested on suspicion of seven misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen property, plus one misdemeanor count each of criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Brown was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield on a $22,250 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries identified Brown as a possible suspect on Jan. 16.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at his residence in the 400 block of North Second Street. Several stolen items were located inside the residence, as well as marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Brown was located in the home with meth and paraphernalia in his pocket.
